Technical Guidance - Camp Lighting
photo of eco-camper LED Flexistrip Light
Specially made for eco-camper after 6 years of LED experience. LED lights are highly effective in a high density of low power individual LED's. The Flexi strip has 96 individual LEDs and the suction cup light bar has 60.
One major benefit of LED lighting is the extra low power consumption. This Flexistrip can be used instead of the 12W Fluorescent light and uses only 25% of the power.
However, LED's are directional with their light which is why they are good for torches. They give a 30-60 degree spread of light compared to the Fluorescent light with 180degrees+.
As a result, for LED lighting to be effective it has to be shone down on the area to be lit. Our Flexistrip has velcro backing to be placed in the top of tents or awnings. The row of LEDs can be manipulated to an angle that suits if required. Our suction cap lighting is perfect for the side of a car, caravan or boat to shine down and preserve those "night" eyes.
The second major requirement for camping lights is to have NO UV light in the LED spectrum.
The third requirement is to have light at a high "colour temperature" that looks slightly blue as this is easier on the eyes and gives better visibility than warm white lighting. You see more with less light!
